Girl Group

This weekend my friends and I unintentionally went out looking like Destiny's Child + James. It was cute though. Everyone wore a pop of red somewhere in their outfit on the way to Teatro in DC.

Unfortunately you can't see my entire outfit here, but I wore a black mini dress, and black  over the knee boots. I'll probably have to cheat and put everything back on to take another picture for the full effect.

My hair is just the result of  a chunky twist out from the same twists I was wearing here.

I'll give you guys my outfit credits even though you can't see everything here yet. I feel like I need to start telling you guys how much of a STEAL these thrifted items really are, so I'm gonna start posting the prices as well (to brag mostly.)

Blazer: Thrifted Ann Taylor ($4)
Chain Link Side Bag: Thrifted ($3)
Dress: American Apparel
Boots: Steve Madden

The fashionistas to my left and right, also scored their outfits for a steal but I won't expose their stee-lo, so you guys will just have to wonder...

"Who Loves Orange Soda...Kris Loves Orange Soda!"

I love this fit!!! it's constructed of a teal romper picked up from Standard Style Boutique, this boutique does get a little pricey but they do offer awesome sales, so make sure to check them out in store or online. I purchased my romper from the Kansas City, MO location at the Country Club Plaza , a high-end  ritzy tour spot which offers fabulous restaurants, shops and other activities.  If you are ever in KC this is a MUST for your list of To Do's.

Ok, OKAY! Back to my outfit... wonderfully constructed of old and new apparel. I chose to wear a teal romper with coral embroidery around the neckline. Along with cognac color leather boots for the winter and a long orange and white stripped cardigan, which I snatched from my Momma's closet. The orange, coral, and cognac  are similar in hue, warmth and color. The large burst of teal is a perfect accent to bring the entire outfit together. It's not to matchy-matchy, but it works!

Oh and because I ain't no fool I wore sheer skin tone stockings. It does get a little brisk in the Midwest during the fall/winter months (this is surely an UNDERSTATEMENT...heck it gets COLD!)

Enjoy!

Boots: Steve Madden "Intyce" Congac leather boot: Super steal from Cargo Largo (retail - $130, I paid $25!!!!)

Frequent Flyer Fresh

On my trip to Oakland California last week, I had to prepare for a drastic change in the weather. I reverted to one of my favorite tactics...LAYERING!!! There was a scarf here at one point in time, but i guess i got a little overheated by the time the pic was taken. I love layering,  its one of my favorite ways to dress, add some on when you get cold, take some off when you get hot. Try to avoid getting down to the point of nekkidness though...I was also rocking another of my go-to protective styles, a bun. I think a bun is chic and relaxed at the same time.
